At the University of Bergen, Department of Biomedicine, a three year postdoctoral fellowship from The Research Council of Norway is available Ｏn the project:Decoding Synaptic Memory with TimeSTAMP. The project is led by Professor Clive Bramham of the Neuroscience Research Group.
The project employs novel genetically-encoded fluorescent probes to image new protein synthesis underlying synaptic plasticity and the encoding of information in neural networks.
Qualifications and qualities
The successful applicant must hold a doctoral degree in neuroscience, imaging technology, or a related discipline or have submitted her/his thesis by the application deadline. The thesis must be approved prior to hiring.
The candidate must have a strong publication track-recordand extensive experience in Ｏne or more of the following techniques listed in order of priority:
1. Time-lapse confocal or two-photon imaging in brain slice preparations or intact animals. Experience with 2P microscopy is preferred but not required.
2. Electrophysiological recording (whole-cell patch clamp) in brain slices.
3. Molecular neurobiology including the use of viral vectors.
The candidate should be proficient in spoken and written English.
Personal skills will be emphasized. The candidate should be able to work independently and interactively in a team setting, be motivated and responsible, and also have a great work capacity and enthusiasm for research.
