Postdoctoral Position is available in the field of protein design in the lab of Julia Shifman in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The person will use computational and experimental methods for developing novel binding domains to protein Ras, whose mutants are implicated in various forms of cancer. The developed methods could be applied for design of novel therapeutical molecules against cancer.
The person will be responsible for designing small libraries of proteins that bind to and inhibit pathological signaling of Ras starting from unrelated protein domains. The libraries of novel binders will be experimentally constructed and assayed for binding to Ras using ELISAs. The most promising variants will be selected for biophysical and structural characterization. The successful postdoctoral candidate should have a background in experimental protein biophysics and be willing to learn some computational methods in protein design. Experience with combinatorial methods for protein selection is a plus.
