Postdoctoral Research Assistant (Ref AV13056)
Five year fixed term post Ｏn grade 7: Salary £29,541 to £33,230 (first 5 points Ｏn the scale)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Zoltan Molnar’s laboratory to work Ｏn combinatorial effects of transcription factors in mammalian cortical development.

The project is focused Ｏn studying the transcription factors specifically expressed in L5 pyramidal neurons. These transcription factors are expressed by distinct subsets of L5 pyramidal neurons and have postulated roles in both early and late cortical development. By deciphering the network of interacting genes that control L5 neuronal development, our studies of normal development and how manipulation of these genes affect pyramidal cell development will enhance our broader understanding of both cortical and general nervous system connectivity.

You will have a postdoctoral degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (molecular biology, neuroscience and cell biology). Also laboratory experience of some of the experimental techniques relevant to the project as well as experience of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of developmental neurobiology.

Excellent facilities are available and opportunities exist for interaction and collaboration with other research groups in this friendly department, which has an international reputation for research in developmental neurobiology.

You will be based in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford, Le Gros Clark Building, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QX.

The post is funded by the BBSRC for 12 months.
