The laboratory of Prof. Lars Fugger, Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunology to join a Wellcome Trust-awarded research programme investigating genetic risk factors and functional outcomes in multiple sclerosis (MS). You will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, statisticians, and clinicians with a range of genetic, immunological and neurological expertise. Our research aims to achieve a better understanding of the pathophysiological processes that promote MS development and progression with the goal of developing novel therapeutic strategies.
A PhD in Immunology is essential, as is prior postdoctoral experience in investigating immunological and/or genetic contributions to an autoimmune disease such as MS would be highly advantageous. An interest in the development of novel techniques and research strategies is greatly encouraged, and therefore the applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in laboratory skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required for this post.
The successful candidate will have access to a range of state-of-the-art facilities including The Wolfson Imaging Laboratory and a core flow cytometry/FACS suite, and will benefit from our strong collaborations within Oxford and with several other internationally recognised groups, both within the UK and abroad.
This Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunology position is for a fixed-term period of 3 years in the first instance, and is available immediately.
A Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award received by Prof. Lars Fugger funds this position.
