A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP is available to study the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of antibody variable region hypermutation and class switch recombination. We use tissue culture and mouse models that can be manipulated genetically and biochemically to study the role of activation induced deaminase and error prone mismatch repair in the targeting of somatic hypermutation. Some of these studies have been extended to examine the role of activation induced deaminase in the progression of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
