The focus of the project is to explore the role of new podocyte-associated G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) in the normal renal ultrafiltration barrier and in diabetic nephropathy. The ultimate goal is to validate podocyte GPCRs as novel therapeutical targets and to develop new pharmaceutical compounds to treat diabetic nephropathy. We are using mice, zebrafish and cell culture as experimental models.
We are seeking enthusiastic applicants who have a thorough training in molecular and cell biology. Previous experience with GPCRs and/or with transgenic mouse lines is an advantage. Candidates should have excellent laboratory and organizational skills, be keen to advance the project and have a proven publication record. The selected candidate will work as part of a team, in close collaboration with other postdocs and graduate students.
Applicants must possess a PhD Degree (or be in the final stages of completion) in an appropriate scientific discipline. Initially, the project is planned to last two years with a possibility for a two year extension and the development of independent resarch line.
