Fabrication and Characterization of Multi-Functional Materials

The position involves the fabrication and characterization of nano-composites or hybrid organic-inorganic materials with application in lightweight structures, integrated multi-functional devices, and energy storage technologies. The research tasks include basic chemical synthesis and materials fabrication aspects via sol-gel or similar routes, as well as comprehensive materials characterization using inelastic light scattering, dielectric impedance spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and other standard materials characterization techniques.
The candidate must have a PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field, and practical experience with spectroscopic, optical measurement, or light scattering techniques. Proficiency in Brillouin and Raman light scattering would provide for a early productivity. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Duties include conducting independent research, publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at scientific conferences, optimization of experimental procedures, advancement of materials fabrication, mentoring of graduate students, and participation in organizational tasks.
